The laboratory of Andreas Keller at the Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology (IOB) in Basel, Switzerland, is looking for a PhD candidate.
We are investigating how cortical circuits are restructured upon experience and learning. To investigate plasticity in cortical circuits, we use a combination of imaging, electrophysiological, and molecular techniques to record and manipulate activity of genetically identified cortical neurons during behavior. Based on these experiments, we aim to develop strategies for targeted interventions that enhance plasticity.
Candidates holding a master’s degree in neuroscience, life sciences, medicine, physics, computer science, engineering, ideally with a strong technical background, are encouraged to apply.
The IOB - affiliated with the University of Basel - is a recently founded biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding vision, its diseases, to develop new therapies for vision loss, and committed to training young scientists. It is based in the vibrant city of Basel, Switzerland, which offers an exceptional scientific and cultural environment.
This position is part of the IOB PhD and MD-PhD Program on Translational Visual Neurosciences. Please submit your application to the Program at the portal https://iob.ch/phd-md-phd-program
