The laboratory of Andreas Lüthi at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) in Basel, Switzerland, is looking for a PhD candidate.
We are investigating how the brain makes predictions about emotional events and how it encodes emotional states in general. To understand the underlying neuronal networks and mechanisms we are combining behavioral, in vivo electrophysiological, imaging, molecular and computational approaches with a focus on the mouse amygdala and associated brain areas.
Candidates holding a Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Life Sciences, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, ideally with a strong technical background, are encouraged to apply. Fluency in English, both written and oral, is mandatory.
The FMI - affiliated with the University of Basel and the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research - is a world-class biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of health and disease, committed to training young scientists. It is based in the vibrant city of Basel, Switzerland, which offers an exceptional scientific and cultural environment.
